Privacy Policy

Who we are
Northland Coverage Group is a working brand of The Swenson Agency, an insurance agency serving businesses in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through northlandcoveragegroup.com (the “site”) and through calls, emails and text messages connected to it.
Information we collect
Information you provide. When you submit the coverage review form, email, call or text us, we may collect:
- Contact details: your name, business name, email address and phone number.
- Business details: business location, industry, coverage interests, renewal date and any notes you include.
- Communications: the content of messages, emails and texts you exchange with us.
Please do not submit Social Security numbers, payment card or bank information, health information, or sensitive employee details through the site. If a licensed agent later needs additional information to prepare a quote, we will request it through an appropriate channel.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider receives standard technical data needed to deliver the site and keep it secure, such as IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time of the request. This site does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, analytics tags or social media pixels.
How we use information
- To respond to your inquiry and contact you about the coverage you asked about.
- To review your business’s insurance needs and, if you choose to proceed, to request quotes and service policies.
- To send text messages you have agreed to receive (see “Text messaging” below).
- To maintain records, protect against fraud or spam, and meet legal and regulatory obligations that apply to insurance agencies.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not build profiles for targeted advertising.
How we share information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Information you submit through our form is never provided to advertising partners. Apart from the limited website-usage data collected by the Google Ads tag (see “Cookies and similar technologies”), we share information only as needed to serve you:
- Insurance companies and wholesalers — only when you ask us to pursue a quote or coverage, so they can evaluate and underwrite your request.
- Service providers — vendors that host this site and process form submissions (such as Netlify), and providers of our email and phone services. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Legal and regulatory reasons — when required by law, subpoena or a regulator, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our clients, our agency or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, sale or transfer of our agency, subject to this policy.
Nonpublic personal information collected in connection with insurance products is handled in accordance with the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and applicable Minnesota and Wisconsin insurance privacy laws, including the Minnesota Insurance Fair Information Reporting Act.
Text messaging
If you text us, or check the text-message box on our form, you agree to receive conversational text messages from Northland Coverage Group / The Swenson Agency at the number you provided about your inquiry, quote or policy. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
- Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts. Reply HELP for help, or call (952) 257-0757.
- We do not send automated marketing texts or calls through this site.
- No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except with service providers that help us deliver the messages.
- Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site uses the Google Ads tag (gtag.js), provided by Google LLC, to measure how well our online advertising works — for example, whether a visitor who clicked one of our ads went on to submit an inquiry — and to help us reach people who may be interested in our services. The tag may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser and sends Google information such as the pages you visit, your IP address, browser and device details, and whether you arrived from one of our ads. Google uses this information as described in its explanation of how it uses information from sites that use its services and its privacy policy. The contents of our coverage review form are not sent to Google.
You can opt out of personalized ads from Google at adssettings.google.com, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or contact us using the details below. We honor browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control: when your browser sends one, we instruct the Google tag not to use your visit for ad personalization, and we treat the signal as a request to opt out of any sale or targeted advertising. Aside from the Google Ads tag, any technical storage used by our hosting provider is limited to delivering and securing the site.
How long we keep information
We keep inquiry information for as long as needed to respond to you and for any ongoing client relationship. If you do not become a client, we delete or de-identify inquiry submissions within 24 months unless a longer period is required by law. Records related to insurance transactions are kept for the periods required by state insurance regulations.
How we protect information
The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and access to submissions is limited to agency personnel who need it to serve you. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information through the site.
Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live, including under the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act and the Minnesota Insurance Fair Information Reporting Act, you may have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your personal information and access a copy of it.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete personal information you provided to us, subject to legal recordkeeping requirements.
- Obtain your information in a portable format.
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling. We do not sell personal information or engage in profiling; to opt out of advertising use of data collected by the Google Ads tag, see “Cookies and similar technologies” above.
- Request a list of the specific third parties to which we have disclosed your personal information.
- Learn the reasons for any adverse underwriting decision and the information it was based on, where insurance law provides that right.
To make a request, email [email protected] or call (952) 257-0757. We will verify your request using the contact details you provided and respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need more time as allowed by law. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with “Appeal” in the subject line; we will respond to appeals within 45 days. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may contact the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Children’s privacy
This site is intended for business owners and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be posted on this page.
